ELLIE’S STORY

Ellie is a 7 year old girl who has Winter Walked with us the last 2 years as her family is very involved with the walk. This year she has decided to get even more involved, encouraging her school to participate and fundraising on her own. She shares a few thoughts in an interview here.

Why do you do the Winter Walk:
You walk for homeless people so we can raise money and help get houses.  It’s important so that  people can have homes and they don’t have to sit in the cold.

What would you tell another kid who might not know what the Winter Walk is:
There’s something called the Winter Walk where you walk for homelessness. You walk for 2 miles. You walk for homeless people to help them get houses.

You have met a lot of homeless people because you do a lot of work with the Winter Walk. What would you tell someone about how you might talk to someone who is homeless?:
Homeless people should be treated any way that’s really nice. Homeless people aren’t any different than anyone else.

What do you like best about doing the walk?
Helping people who are homeless.  The Winter Walk is really special.
